There is more than one way to become a Bulgarian citizen.
Ways to obtain Bulgarian citizenship can be listed as follows;
- 1951 – 1968 – 1978 immigrants and their descendants apply for Bulgarian citizenship,
- 1989 immigrants and their descendants apply for Bulgarian citizenship,
- Application for Bulgarian citizenship by immigrants of 1948, 1949 and 1950 and their descendants,
- Obtaining Bulgarian citizenship through marriage,
- Granting citizenship rights to those who invest in Bulgaria,
- People whose ancestors are Bulgarian citizens and who were born in Turkey are Bulgarian citizens,
Bulgarian laws, acceptance to the European Union, immigration accumulation, policies followed in the country, etc. For these reasons, it has granted the right to citizenship with different regulations and different practices from the date of first immigration to the present day. Applications for Bulgarian citizenship are constantly changing today. For example, while citizenship interviews were previously given an appointment 1 year later, interviews are now held without an appointment. Another example is that while a "committee report" was previously sufficient in the health report required from applicants, now a doctor's statement stating that "there is no contagious disease" is required in addition to the delegation report. It is important to adapt to the constantly changing application, to be aware of innovations and to benefit from useful changes as soon as possible.
